In the early part of December, I was asked to empty the shredding bins around the building. As I unhooked the sack from inside the bin and moved backwards so I would empty the sack into the wheelie bin, I caught my trousers on the lock mechanism, thus putting a small rip in my suit trousers - unrepairable and a accident. When I returned, our HSE lady saw the rip and said that I should get some money for this. I have told my direct manager twice about this and I am still waiting. What else can I do?
Now, I am a contractor, but I am sure that I will get the same benefits as a paid employer.
My dad when he was working, ripped two of his shirts in the work place and the company paid for two new shirts.
