'G' revision D/V failiure? which one to get now.........
« on: January 03, 2013, 06:55:34 pm »
I thought my car had felt a bit sluggish lately at low revs, everytime I try to floor it, gets the revs up, then wheelspins through all the gears, made 357bhp on a local dyno, but had lowish torque after it peaked.
I plugged in the VCDS today, and got this

008801 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249)
               P2261 - 008 - Mechanical Malfunction - Intermittent
I cleared the fault, and after a drive down the road it came straight back.
Now, I only replaced the D/V for a revision 'G' in august, so it has lasted all of 4 months. I cant see any visible splits in it. I swapped it over for the original 'C' version I had, and it feels like a different car now, with no fault code either.
Question is, which one do I go for now? as I dont think teh roiginal one will last too long :stupid:

Another Rev G is best suited.

I wouldn't put the D revision in.

The G is the strongest of the diaphragm DV's but its still a rubber diaphragm so prone to splitting  :sad1:

On a high powered car like yours, your best either going for the D or upgrading to a forge  :happy2:

What's wrong with the D's SS?

Had one fitted for what must be 4yrs now and I don't seem to of suffered any problems.

I just got rid of a 'D' version aswell :fighting:

Might just get another 'G' then.
The one I have here hasnt split, must just be a mechanical failiure.
Is there not a warranty on VW spares?

On my DSG car, it made the engine when sat stationary very rough and lurch foward when releasing the brake to move off . If you own a DSG car you will know what I mean. I also found that it holds peak boost better and spooled up smoother using the G then D.

Up to you of course, but VW'S say that Rev G is for your car, as the D isn't listed as being correct for it.

Ah, I see. My cars manual so maybe that's why I haven't noticed anything. I'll bare it in mind though.

Thanks for the explanation.  :happy2:

From what I've read the g is for the mk6 k04 cars and the d is for the k03 cars.

I'll find out tomorrow. I've lost the receipt for it now anyway, although I  have about £2000 worth of parts receipts, its the only one I cant find :sad1:

No it isn't. F and G are for the Edition 30's.

D isn't, wasn't , and never has been advised to use by VW.

Take it back to Pullman VW in S.land and speak to Scottish Jim, ask him all about his Subaru and make friends, mention us lot at PDT and he will gladly swap it over.
