Am biased but it has to be an Eddy! Loads more headroom (upto 40% IIRC) in the K04 Turbo'd engine for future power upgrades and the car looks a lot better IMO, just a bit different!

Do yourself a "spec list" that you want and go from there. If you are planning on modifying your car and don't mind retrofitting bits then its no biggy to get a car without MFSW, RNS510 (Sat Nav), Bluetooth or Highline etc as these can all be easily fitted at a later date.

DSG will be good if your planning on having the car mapped as with a manual you'll soon need an uprated clutch fitted as the OEM will stuggle with all those nice new torques.

Ed30 or a Pirelli if you have the budget and can get over the marmite bits

Both rare in Oxford area, whereas you see plenty of GTIs about

I currently own both ATM,

A stage 1 edition 30 with handling mods and TBE

AND

Stock engine K03 GTI with some mild handling mods.

Eddy is DSG & GTI KO3 is a manual.

U can't compare performance for obvious reasons.

For pure enjoyment i prefer the Manual as I feel I have more control over what the engine and gearbox is doing etc but for a flat out drive the DSG is more focused. Flat up shifts, great down shifts and great DSG farts lol

Edition 30 looks better and will hold its value more. Greater tuning ability for less ££ and is rarer too.

My advice is if u can afford an eddy then buy one, ideally with a high spec and get it mapped;)

Own the Ed30 DSG 5dr myself and it can be so relaxed to drive when you want & an animal at other times  :driver:

I was lucky finding one with a high spec, xenons, highline, armrest, have since added MFSW and RCD510.

The decent spec cars do seem to sell pretty quickly, i'd look for one with good service history at VW, also if you go DSG make sure its been serviced, Oil & filter at 40k, if it 4 years old or 60k a cambelt and waterpump need to have been done.

You any specifics, mileage, colour, budget?

Thanks for replies.

I'm taking a shine towards either a grey or black eddy 30 or same colours high spec gti.

Would like a dsg for the flappy paddles but manual would be good to.

Mileage lower the better but sub 50k.

Budget not got one so to speak but seen some from 6k - 10k so depends on the right car.

I've owned my gti for 12 months and I'm now considering selling to buy an ED30. I rushed into buying the GTI and should have waited for the right ED30 to come along but I waited for 6 months and couldnt find one that was perfect.
