Nobody pick up on the fact it has an electric handbrake  hate those with a passion nothing wrong with a lever and cables! Looks really nice though. Not keen on any of the wheels

I wouldn't mind the electric handbrake. I quite like the idea of this one as well because it can be automatic so you don't even need to touch it. Only downside is no handbrake turns, but I don't do that anyway! (not in my own car )

i dont like it as i work in a garage and the amount of bother we get with cars and electronic handbrakes is unreal. motors seize on and it isnt cheap to fix when they go wrong

I can't help thinking it looks even more dull than the mk4 Gti.  No side skirts, not mean enough looking IMO.  Very plain.  Looks like I'll be going audi or BMW next time

from the outside it just constantly reminds me of the MK6 for some reason, people might like that but it'd make me think about just getting a good used MK6!

I like its looks but not as much as the Mk5 or Mk6 (not seen one in the flesh yet though so that could change).

The signature red stripe going through the lights is a nice touch. The GTI wing thing on the side is a little bit bling IMHO and I really like the new style Monza's, they do suit a dark coloured car. Inside looks a little fussy though.

I'll be happy getting a Mk6 next so won't need to be saving like mad for the Mk7 now.

I think the front is too ''thin'' it looks a bit like an ant eater! The seats look nice though, extra support around the shoulder area.

visited my local VW dealer today to take a look at mk7!

I am really disappointed to be frank.... Interior is on par with mk5 and in flash it looks worse than on the pics... I was expecting to be wowed by the interior and was happy to get back to my mk5 and drive home. Th eonly positive thing with mk 7 is low consumption but who is bother with that really?? GTI is reasonably economical anyways!

The grass is always greener on the other side.

Hopefully gti will be better.

I saw one today too, it must be Listers demo car, I was disappointed in its looks.....it looked a bit too squared off for my liking. I saw a new A3 shortly after and that looked much better IMHO!

Is it only available as a TSI???  :sad1:

Are you referring to VW's Twin charged offering seen in the 1.4l engine?

TSI is used on MK6 GTI and the MK7 will use TSI as well with the 2.0l single blower setup.

VW did confuse things a little when they changed from TFSI to TSI in the MK6 GTI.

I saw a MK7 in a stealership and it was ok...the GTI will look better.

As for the A3/S3: http://www.audi.co.uk/new-cars/a3/s3.html

I think that looks soft, fat and round nowt sharp about it at all. The front of the car is too short, bonnet looks squashed with a lardy rear.

In comparison the MK7 GTI looks better but they will no doubt share features so juries out I guess.

What's a valve lift do?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
