Like this a lot!
The end of the vid with the external images of the GTi in white looks sweet!
Love the new style rear lights and the new style headlights with the DRL's built in!

Even the interior is looking good!

All that said, its still more or less a face lifted Mk6, which in turn is just a face lifted Mk5... So Mk5 still rules!  :drinking:

We go through this every time.

It'll be a great car, they'll sell loads and you'll probably all have one in 3 years once the prices have settled.

Resistance to change.

Just had a look, not my favourite  the rear light just put me offf, interior and dashboard design is ok but mk6 has a much more smooth one. I prefer da mk6 for a new car

I agree - but it is weird how new Golfs never have instant appeal.

Planning on having a look around a MK7 at lunchtime - if they have one at my local dealer yet.

Well... to say I'm underwhelmed is an understatement. You know it's not a good start when you have to double-take at the new car. The one I looked at was a dark blue colour, which really doesn't suit it. I think it's going to look best in light colours. It wasn't helped by being a very basic "S" spec car, but the lasting impression is that it has matured a lot - it would add years to you driving one. I did like the interior, it certainly feels more spacious, and the interior plastics feel marginally better than the MK6. No doubt the GTI will be very nice, but these first trim levels leave me very cold.

I must admit the bod standard models of most cars tend to leave me cold.

Wait until the GTI (vRS ) appears before making a judgement.

Exactly, how else are they going to make a feck load of money other than getting you to upgrade spec?

Well mk7 test drive is booked for tomorrow, probably wont find out much about the mk7 GTI as I bet I have found out more than they know already!

They have a mk6 R in stock too ... think I may take a peak round that, been a long time since my R test drive.

so could come down to mk6 R or wait for the mk7 GTI - which with the performance pack could be a winner just be nice to see one, did spot the mk7 in a car park Monday night when off to play footy so marketing sort of working on me.

be interesting to know what the planned engine specs are for the mk7 GTI

The dealers will know jack sh*t about the GTI! Like you said, we all probably know more than they do.

I'd put money on it!

Just watched that video again, the rear VW badge looks a bit odd - just the way its sat and seems to stick out at the top.

Its not too bad, a little disappointed there are no skirts to finish the side profile off a bit better.  Rear wheels look a little set in too.

Now the question - if you had the cash in your pocket, new GTI or MK6 R ... or even something like a TTRS - some choice around that kind of money now.

If I had the cash in my pocket i would go for.......
