Well I saw with my own eyes this morning, the exploded picture of a k03 turbo on ekta, with the revision g d/v listed for the bwa and axx and I think it was apy?

He then had the diagram of my engine up, byd, and that listed a g revision aswell.

And I have just told you exactly what happened when I rang my VW dealership. No mention of Type G. JKM also fit the D OEM piston type at Stage 1 for the 2.0TFSI engine.

Nick at R-Tech who has alot of respect on here tested the 'D' and 'G' versions and 'G' came out as the better option. I am running 'G' version on my 2005 without any issues :happy2:

I'm not doubting the performance of the G. I am merely pointing out that according to VW's database, the D is correct for my AXX engined GTi.

My tuners, Storm Developments also use the piston type D, as do  JKM when they replace the factory DV on TFSI engines. That, and the fact that it is correct as per VW's system for my reg number, is good enough for me.

Each to their own, I am happy with my 'G' version and as a previous post I will treat it as a service part, cheap and easy to replace, did mine in 30mins!

D for a GTi, G for a Edition 30.

What about the latest one that JKM showed without the skirt?

Thats the new C revision with the skirt.
Its odd how one companies database like TPS shows the G is the correct part number and VW that Ian went to shows the D. I just phoned my local VW and Skoda garage to try and help with this and they are both still showing the G is the correct part number.

At the end of the day its worth remembering that all these revisions of DV are basically exactly the same, bar the top of the valve, so it will make no difference to the engine which revision its running.

The "G" is not as strong, yet will hold the boost better than a "D" with its plastic against metal seal.

Ive had both on mine, and noticed that the "G" seems to give the car a bit more response at low revs (others have said the same)

The "D" on mine didnt leak - even after about 10k miles although I removed it and sold it anyway.

I really dont know why we are all fussing over DV's so much, we all know the facts now

Mine is an AXX.

Just because VW say it, doesn't make it true though does it.

The amount of people that have had poor service and incorrect information from VW says it all.
