Which golf?
« on: January 03, 2013, 11:25:58 pm »
Hello all looking to get a mk5 gti or ed 30.

Is there a lot of difference between the two to justify the prices.

Also what's the best manual or dsg?

And mpg what do you guys get?

More questions to come

I'm from Oxford so if anyone sees any local let me know thanks

Each is to there own really. I have a manual, never really considered dsg, but both have their benefits.

The ed30 is more due to rarity, different bumpers, interior and a Ko4 as opposed to the Ko3. If the monies there then i would personaly go for the ed30 due to the much higher power gains that are possible.

DSG or manual i would of thought it is down to personal preference, i wanted manual as DSG is more expensive to keep tip top however it does increase the 0-60times and ofcourse you feel like an F1 driver with your flappy paddles :)

I get around 30mpg, depends how heavy you foot is, its seems to drop to 7ish when your giving it beans, but ive only had mine a week :)

Look for rust underneath the wheel arches... That's one common problems with the mk5.

Options wise, look for a highline display, xenons, winter pack which included heated seats, washer jets, mirror dip. 18 inch monza's are nice and cruise control as well

Looks alright, low mileage. The wheels are 17's not 18's as they state.

Buy a car from this forum if you want a cracking car.

Would you say it's priced right?

Thanks

The sunroof is a nice rare option to have along with the msfw on a manual.

Price wise if its a dealer, its not too bad, but like Tortaruga said, if you want a car which you know has been treated well have a look at the cars for sale on here. Enthusiasts tend to keep their cars in top condition :-)

Having owned both gti and eddy, I would go for the ed30 every time if you can afford it. Power delivery is much better and feels like it has a turbo regardless of whether you mod it or not. Its very good if you leave it as standard too  :happy2:
