Golf GT TDI 140 - Remap & Exhaust options.
« on: January 03, 2013, 11:41:47 pm »
Hey guys,

I've been thinking about upgrading my Golf Mark V GT TDI 140 for a while and been looking around for a good deal.

I want a Remap, Milltek Exhaust and a better turbo.

Now I looked on Revo hoping to get some sort of deal by getting a lot of work done by them at the same time but got a little confused. Some clarification would be great. It seems they do a Revo Stage 1 Remap for the TDI 140 engine but Stage 2 and above point towards being the petrol variants only as they require certain upgrades that a diesel can not get such as the K04.

Now, I know for the exhaust I can fit a Milltek R32 style exhaust with a new valance so that's fine. But what options do I have for a better turbo? The K04 isn't possible with this engine right? So i'd need some sort of hybrid turbo possibly? Where would I find one of those? Same with the fuel pump, I can find loads of uprated fuel pumps for the GTI but nothing for the diesel counterpart.

So yes ideally i'm looking at a Stage 2+ Revo map (if possible) with a bigger turbo and the R32 style Milltek exhaust. Anyone know where I could possibly get a good deal by having all of these fitted together? I know I might need a new clutch to handle everything.

If anyone has any opinions about other reasonably priced upgrades then feel free to let me know.

Oh and Revo only seem to fit hardware for the petrol selection of engines.

Cheers,

i have done all the above on my diesel--just got the clutch now to get fitted to tweak the map for the hybrid turbo i have fitted
A stage 1 revo map will get you about 185 bhp and you can run this on the standard clutch--you don't change the pump on the maps on a diesel
Stage 2
is to decat the car so it revs better in the mid range then a full turbo back exhaust which can be either a milltek or contact Ncs on here who does them as well and are cheaper
Also either a panel air filter or the fancy intakes but heard these dont do any think on a diesel
Hybrid turbo--i have a Cr turbo stage 2 which is 220 to 240bhp (when i get the clutch done think mine is 200bhp at the mo but willknow better when i get it on the rollers-with a custom map its running on
turbo technics also do hybrid turbos as well.Look through my build thread its all in there :happy2:

I think the only way you can get the car to where you want it to be - ie big turbo is to ditch the Revo idea and get a custom map from one of the recommended tuners on here. Have you looked at Darkside developments website? They specialise in tuning your engine, and have one of their own with 316bhp  :happy2:

Worth a google. . .

Our favourite route is:

Milltek turbo back
Sachs clutch
Turbo dynamics stg2 hybrid
Our own PD140 custom map

Should see 240bhp and 360 ftlb easily. With a big intercooler and injectors more is possible, but this leve feels good with the right chassis and brake mods.

I was told (for mine) the S3 ones were a good upgrade so should be able to use on the 140.

Audi S3 intercooler is the best, don't both spending £MEGA on a Forge one.

What other suggestions do you need?

Just out of interest, how are the S3 ones better? Are they more efficient? How would fitting one affect how the car performs?
