Redundancy
« on: January 30, 2013, 10:16:11 pm »
Hi guys

If any of you are in the IT industry you may well have heard that 2e2 have gone into administration - unfortunately up until Tuesday morning I was employed by this once great company but by Tuesday lunch time I was told to take my belongings and that I wouldn't be paid for January... As I have a mortgage and bills to pay this huge shock has obviously hit me hard and so I would appreciate any help in finding a new job if anyone knows of any going in the IT industry in the Berkshire area, within sales and marketing...

Thanks a lot,

Emily

Wow, sorry to hear that. Seems like that is happening a lot around the world at the moment. I do feel for you. I have been on the end of both sticks, being made redundant and making people redundant and I can honestly tell you that neither is fun. Hope you find something soon.

All the best with finding further work, i went through this in June 2012 and it wasnt fun, thankfully i was one of the lucky one to be kept on, we lost 30% of the sales force at that time.

Get yourself registered with as many recruitment places as possible and get your CV bang up to date. Drop Keano a pm he works in recruitment, may help.

All the best  :happy2:

Hi Emily

Sorry to hear this, like squeeguk I was put through this last June. I managed to get back in to work within 3 months managing a training centre. Some of the staff that I manage are now under threat and having consultation meetings this friday. I feel guilty as i know my job is safe.
Also as Keano says this can be the best thing that happens in your career  :happy2:
Usually a last resort but you are entitled to claim JSA  (job seekers allowance) from the Job centre

I wish you luck

Thanks all for your words of encouragement... I loved my job and the company and everything was just so perfect so that's what I'm finding hardest at the moment - knowing that I most likely won't find something that perfect again, but we'll see, I guess everything happens for a reason...  :sad1:

I was made redundant three weeks ago so i fully appreciate what it feels like. There are new opportunities out there, in fact significantly more than i thought there would but there is also 2.5m unemployed so the market is tough. With that said i have received a fair amount of interest and have another interview Friday morning.

Sorry to hear this. We have a hardware engineer on site from 2e2 as well. We only recently renewed our contract with them, but i think there was a reason they were so cheap compared to the likes of Computacenter, as they were just desperate for the deal in troubled times. The growth and aquisition model that 2e2 were pursuing was only going to end badly, and im surprised it didnt happen sooner.

My deepest sympathies to you. As they have gone into administration it must be very difficult, as you will not get any severance pay etc.  :sad1:

Our hardware engineer is still on site, and has been told to carry on as usual. He is waiting to see if he gets paid today. Although he cannot order parts at present.

Are your skills set in IT or are they in marketing sales?

Sorry to hear your situation, been there but found a silver lining, so hope you do too...

Computacentre?

Unfortunately, im a tiny fish in a massive sea and have no involvement in multi million £ contract negotiations.
