Im looking at investing in a GoPro.  I will need it for snowboarding, mountain biking and wakeboarding/skating.  Haven't got a clue what to get.

Who's got one?  What do you recommend?

Cheers in advance :happy2:

Also look at Contour +2 with integrated GPS. The video and data can be imported straight into Dashware for overlays, and you can use an iPhone for playback or setup of lens position.

I have had a gopro for a few years now.
Love mine!
I use mine on my jetski most of the time but I have used it for paintballing, go karting and even in the golf;)

The newer ones are the ones to have. They have wifi built in, so you can stream the video to your smart phone.

You can even do some time lapse photography as well  :happy2:

What ever one you get make sure it's HD.

I'd have to agree with this ^^^.

My friends have Hero HDs and i use a Contour ROAM HD. They're both very good and both have positives and negatives but for my useage i prefer the Contour (plus its water and shock proof without the aditional case)!

The twist lense and laser level on the Contour are very useful too, as is the one button operation - fantasitic when on the move.

I find the GoPro Hero too bulky. They are a very oddly designed shape. The Contour is what i would get persoanlly, especially as the helmet mounts mean you almost cant even see/feel the thing.

I do know what you mean though; we have often reached the end of a trail to find the Hero’s pointing up into the sky after meeting low braches! The Contour hasn’t suffered this as it has neater profile and sits at the lowest point on my lid, by my jaw.

Although a lot a people will buy them for use in/on cars, vehicles, etc so the Hero’s bulk isn’t really an issue for them.

The main issue I’ve noticed is, having to turn them on and then start recording separately – can be a faff when mounted to your lid and you’ve got gloves on!
The Contour uses one slide button for convenience – slide it forward, the camera turns on, beeps once and starts recording, slide it back and the camera stops recording, beeps twice and turns off – simple!

Most of my videos start with me looking at someone’s Hero saying, ‘yep it’s switched on and it’s started recording now let’s go’ as they’re not sure what it’s doing!

As for image quality, hard to say, both Hero HD and the Contours are very good, though the sound recording is better on the Hero. I think the Contour can suffer from a lot of wind noise – though I need to play with the wind cut level in the settings to see if that helps!?

I've been looking at getting a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition - was about to get a mate to pick one up in the US as they work out around £120 cheaper! $399.99 Vs £359.99! Even the Entry Hero 3 is $199.99 Vs £199.99!

I have put off the purchase at the moment tho as there are a lot of complaints about problems with them. I suspect it will mostly be firmware but i've read a lot of people having to get replacements, so I dont think its entirely ready to buy from all the trawling i've done.

Without a doubt tho the quality from the Hero3 is much better than a Hero2
