Why people are so concerned about the next owner is beyond me.

It's probably not so much the next owner but more about getting a good price when they sell the car on but I do see the point people are making on here about why have a car like a Gti and not actually use it and enjoy it.

The first year I had mine I did 14k in it, since we went back to 2 cars it's dropped to 5k a year which is a good happy medium, gets used but not lumping stacks of miles on it each year.

Obviously some people have a lot of money and can afford to have a toy locked away that only comes out on sunny days.

My MK5 GTI had done around five times that mileage when I flogged it Garrard. Just under half of that was done by me (40k+ miles) and it still drove solidly with a fresh feel the day I sold it

Have you started driving yours yet?

Before the GTI I had a MK6 RS2000 which I had for 12 years. I cherished that car and only put 12,000 miles on it in that time.
When I came to sell it it was only worth a fraction more than 80-90,000 miles cars as there was nothing to compare it to.
The only difference was that I sold it a couple of hours of advertising it with no haggling.
Taught me a lesson and now I just drive my cars and enjoy them.
But as people have said, you pay good money for your car and can do with them what you want.

I've had the Golf for just over 4 years now and watched many mileage milestones pass on the way from 4k when I bought it all the way up to the 71k it has now, I honestly think its running better now than it ever has  :driver:

I wonder if i do the same.. get mine up to a million miles. Will VW offer me an Edition 65?  :signLOL:

Mines running about 62K now. Had it since 13k  :scared: :scared:

Like beddies, mines running a sweet as a nut... it could do with a full set of bushes and suspension change to make it feel like new.

I have received lots of useful and more importantly friendly advice from this forum - I'm afraid some guy posting a pic of his rather boring mileage doesn't fall into either category.

@OP - It's a bit rich to post your mileage on a public forum and then say 'it's got nothing to do with you'.

If you don't want people making comments on your paltry mileage, don't bother to post it up.

....I'm wading in support of the OP (Gerrard) on this one.

He is only needing to be defensive because some (not all) others in this thread have been harshly and personally criticising him for his low mileage and his lifestyle. He's right - No-one has to justify their mileage whether it's low or high. Neither should they need to justify their lifestyle.

Has it not occurred to you that Gerrard might simply be curious to know if other forumites also run very low mileages and hence why he started the topic?

It's an interesting topic because folks have posted quite a variety of mileages and their thoughts about it.

Peace....................
