I always avoid very low milage cars, as they are often used for short journeys where the engine is not allowed to warm up properly.
Same here, id rather buy a car with a few more miles on it knowing its not been stood about and used for short trips.
Well i never do short journeys in mine , i have the diesel cooper for that , hence the low mileage . Being stood about does nothing to deteriorate a car apart from discs , which are cheap on GTI's anyway to replace if required. Why does a lower mileage get a higher price in all the guide books then ? Also nobody would ever buy a high mileage Lamborghini , Aston , Ferrari etc for top money . A local garage (who sells new prestige make ) once took an Aston in p/ex on one of their new cars , it had 52000 on it and the salesman gave a good p/ex price . They couldn't even trade it with that mileage . Nobody wanted it . It went to auction and was unsold , went through again at £5k under trade price as reserve and sold to a private buyer , which was still less than this price !
Also i know several people , well three who want my car when i sell it . One has even offered £2k deposit to keep it for them
