12,995 too much for a gti 30 edition manual?
« on: January 07, 2013, 09:58:27 pm »
Hi guys, new to this, and i'm after some advice, figure this is the best place!

Basically viewed a 58 plate gti 30 edition etc, 29000 on the clock and immaculate. I literally walked around it for 3 quarters of an hour and couldn't find a mark on it.
That aside, 12995 still seems too much, all ive got to go by is auto trader / piston heads etc and its probably one of if not the most expensive ive seen. Guess im looking for justification, or do i keep looking.......?  Appreciate any thoughts

Nice low miles but yes, it's a high price.

Really does depends on the spec? Is it a 3dr/5dr? Is it a DSG? Is it white (they seem to demand more money) Does it have xenons, RNS510, MFSW, Highline, winter pack, lux pack, parking sensors, sunroof or any aftermarket mods fitted.

Any really good detail specialised would have a car looking the business for a few hundred quid so don't be swayed by "it's shiny". It will need a new Cambelt/Waterpump at 4 years or 60k miles (whichever comes first) and in this case that will Be very soon so make sure that is done as part of the sale if you go for it as its a £450+ job at a VW main dealer, cheaper from a VAG Specialised.

If its a 3dr manual in Black with a poverty spec which needs a Cambelt, £11k max IMHO.

If its fully loaded and there isnt a mark on it, then id say its about that IMO.

If it is in the condition you say and it is fully loaded then I would say its worth the money. The mileage is very decent as well. If I was in the market for an Edition 30 I would pay that, but every one is different. You could pay £500 less and end up with something your not happy with.

I've seen them advertised for more than that at the minute, as above though if it's got loads of toys and is as good a condition as it sounds then that'll be about right, also what type of dealer is it in? Dodgy backstreet, VW main dealer or other main dealer franchise, bmw audi etc, or reputable specialist? I'd quite happily pay an extra 1k for peace of mind than buy off an Arfur Daley.
Laser Blue 3dr No 209683, Leather, Monza II's and a few other goodies...........GONE but not forgotten......now in an A4 S-Line Avant 170tdi......god I miss the Gti.

I wondering if it's an import as it's not got the Euro sliding cover cup holder...

You could well be right but I thought the armrest was standard in a ED30 unlike the GTI.
