It's probably going to sound snobbish to say this but most of the Kavos 'revellers' as portrayed in the TV prog greatly lack education of any sort and have not been restricted from drinking in the UK. Those same people are the ones who clog up A&E every Saturday night, and not just Saturdays either. Part of the problem is that the parents are very uneducated too.
I grew up with Retsina and Ouzo (probably why I much preferred neat spirits when I used to drink alcohol) from the age of 10. Apart from education there is the major factor of culture (meaning society, not sophistication).
My daughter got absolutely plastered just before she went away to uni and had to be ambulanced 15 miles away. She had passed out and if it wasn't for a local medic she may have died. She learnt her lesson and although she drinks she's very careful. I'm glad it happened where I could reach her and alert the emergency services because no-one was doing anything except her best mate who phoned me. Feckin pubs and bars have a lot to answer for, but hey-ho it's a nice profit. A second dead child would probably be more than even I could bear.
