Eagle F1 breaking in?

I'll be getting 4 brand new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's fitted this week, 225-45-17 94XL, fitted for £440.  My current ditchfinders will kill me sooner rather than later.

I know a lot of you have fitted these so just wondered if these tyres need to be broken in? I'm heading off on a weekend trip and will be doing about 4-500 miles.

As far as i am aware all new tyres will need worn in, think it takes about 100 - 200mile

Tyres requires a break-in period of 400 - 500 miles for optimum performance.

For standard road driving they should be ok from the off, if you want to do spirited driving then you need them up to temp and scrubbed in fully, it's up to you how you do that second half.

I'll tell you now that I hated these tyres when I first fitted them. And that was coming from Falken FK452.

It took about a 1000 miles before they found their true colours.

But they still pull quite a bit so hold on tight.........

I even put a set on my Touran as Camskil were doing them for £100 plus a £10 Tesco fuel voucher each.

HaHa - well it is January - best time to take a break 'cos it's a shocker of a month. Also hotels are giving rooms away.

I had a set fitted a couple of weeks ago. Amazing grip from the word go! It was pouring with rain - B roads then motorway - just felt so secure.
200 miles on and have started to explore the dry grip. Sticks like glue.
You don't feel the minor bumps like before (Contis). and relatively quiet.
They seem to be getting even better with a few miles on them.
Really recommend them - as good as the Ads show!

They are a good tyre, one of my favourite features is the rim protector round the edge of the wheel. Not sure if its the same for the 17 inch wheels you have?

I reckon I'm going to get 12k out of my fronts, does that sound normal?

Just had them fitted together with an alignment as the old fronts had uneven wear. Had a bit of fun wheelspinning the kojaks in 4th on the way to the fitter.

They do have plenty of rim protection so must be the same as the 18's.
I'd hope to get more than 12k miles. I think you're supposed to rotate them after 8k miles??

People have different opinions on rotating, also it is better to have the tyres with more tread on the rear of the car (regardless of being fwd/rwd). I normally have the new tyres put on the rear with the rears put on the front

Glad you said that cause I had contis 3 before and seemed noisy. Having those fitted this saturday. Can't wait

I second that!! Another massive thumbs up for the Eagle F1's  , I've literally only done 50 miles on mine up to now since having them fitted on Wednesday but they are so much more positive than the Dunlop Sportmaxx's they replaced, which I found out in the damp and cold conditions on yesterday's drive. Looking forwards to what these will be like come spring and warmer clim's. To be fair they were the best tyre's I ever had fitted to my old Fiat Coupe 20VT but they were the older V patterned GS-D3? versions, back in about 2004.

I had a set of F1s fitted a couple of weeks ago too.  First impressions are that the road noise is a lot less than my previous Toyos, but my mpg has gone down
