GTI starting Problems :( **Think we found the problem**
« on: January 08, 2013, 02:21:13 pm »
Had my gti just for just over a week and I went to to start it on Friday and it didn't start!

The car would try to turn over but wouldn't spark! After a squirt of easy start, still nothing so called greenflag.

Guy came to my house and found that he couldn't get a reading of of a 'camshaft sensor' so on Saturday went off to local garage on recovery truck for them to check. Monday morning they also found the the sensor was not giving a reading so put two and two together and ordered another.

Sensor was fitted today and they now have a reading but the car still won't start!

Just wanted advice of anything that it may be or common problems with the TFSI engine?!

I am so gutted, words cannot describe!  :sad1:

Thanks for looking! Hope someone can help me out!

Have you been able to check for any fault codes as this will likely shed more light on the problem

If you have anymore of this stuff then I suggest you throw it away or you will kiss goodbye to a lot more in your engine...  :scared:

did you buy private or from a garage?

Having been just a week after you have it then whoever you bought it from really should be responsible for this, I'm sure someone on here nows the actually laws etc but i'm pretty sure if something like this starts so soon you're able to go back to buyer with issues

Where are you based? Someone will no doubt be able to suggest a good local/vw indy specialist near you.

I'm based in Sussex,

I bought the car privately but it ran faultless everyday up until Friday, even on test drive and start up when I bought it!

I haven't got anything to check for fault codes with  :sad1:

Try changing coil pack one with coil pack two... Sometimes coil packs fail... only worth a try!

New coil packs can be got FOC from VW on recall  :happy2:
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

It would also be worth getting you car scanned to see where the fault may be  :happy2:

Where are you based?  I can scan it tomorrow for you.

Edit.  Sorry too far from me... I'm sure there are some peeps around the Sussex area that will give it a quick scan for some beer tokens.

Found this today...

So went to VW about recall, apparently they cannot help me as 'my car doesn't have a recall on it'  :fighting:
