Dv replace and fuel filter why?

Going to replace the Dv and fuel filter soon but want to know what difference they will make and anything I will notice? Prob combine with a good service...

I think we worked out that for the DV it depends on your star sign, what colour your eyes are and which way the winds blowing.

A dv and fuel filter, if bad, would give you CEL and fault errors. If not, and nothing about them is faulty now, you likely will not notice much of anything diff...A bad filter would be the same as a bad lpfp and not allow the pressure at the hpfp to be sufficient for the sensor there = cel. A bad dv means no boost = cel and not much power.

There was no official Fuel filter replacement schedule for the MK5 GTI...however like many other filters its good practice to replace them.

You will need to measure your fuel consumption by measuring the mileage you cover between fill points. I usually manage around 28-32 mpg but what you achieve is heavily dependent on what type of roads you use and how long for.

As for the Diverter valve, this has been discussed a lot so please follow the link below and remember your star sign can heavily influence your fortunes with the DV

Both can be done as a DIY with not too much difficulty depending on what equipment you have access to.

I think the easiest options should be tried first. When were your spark plugs last changed?

I replace the Fuel Filter at service time. Part is only £20-£25 so its cheap enough to change, only prob is VW say it doesn't need doing, ITS A FILTER!! Anyway, its a 10-15 job, my VAG specialised does mine for £40 IIRC inc the filter, part number was 1K0 201 051 K but came across another one which i think is the newer one, being 1K0 201 051 C.

If your car is an early GTI then it will have a Revision C Diverter Valve so go with either a Revision G (diaphragm version, the latest flavour) or the Revision D (piston type). I read somewhere that the k03 benefit from the D and the bigger K04 from the G. No idea if that's the case though. The revision G does seem very good on my Edition 30.

Sometimes when issues are not deemed too bad, you will not get a cel. However, there may still be recorded error faults stored in the cars memory. If you have vcds/vag-com cable you can read all of the error codes not producing cel's. Because these codes do not always pinpoint where the prob is, I agree, start with the things that should be renewed anyhow. i.e. - fuel filter(I do this every 50K), Plugs(@50k), coils(@50k), Cam Follower (oem hpfp=after 40k miles check every 10k miles)(upgraded hpfp=check every 10k or 5k after a 10k check). Most things like; [DV, lpfp, pcv, etc.] you can wait until bad.
I have seen a few fuel filters cut open after 40k miles that looked pretty fouled up.
