I'll ask tomorrow :happy2:

They are local to me (5mins down the road) for the alloys and you can choose your colour :jumping:

The R888's are online from Camskill at £140 each plus £2.45 delivery each (so I guess that is actually £570! :rolleye:), so I don't know if we'd get a deal from there or not for 8 tyres.

Interestingly the 225/45/17 R888's have a 231mm contact patch wheras the 225/40/18's only have a 224mm contact patch. I would presume that with a slightly higher sidewall you would get a slightly better ride on the 17's than the 18's too, as you travel to the Pod

What colours do they do.  :jumping:

These have got to be worth a look, depending on offset. As they're Merc, they're usually pretty high though.

Thinking on...

What's a set of mint BBS Monza IIs without tyres worth these days?? - I might fancy in on this Pro Race1.2/R888s lark too.

I would say 600. minimum, if they are mint. Mine sold for £850 with nearly new exalto's in ten minutes and i am still getting 2 or 3  enquiries a week. So that tells me they may have been slightly underpriced.

The seller is Billy boy tyres and are just down the road from me.

The price is for 7.5 x 17 alloys and they already have 25% off the normal price.

I would be going for these with a 45 offset. This would shove the tyres out 6mm more than stock. These weigh 8.2kg

They also have the 8 x 17 alloys with a 45 offset which would stick out 12.5mm more than stock. These weigh 9kg

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/17-TEAM-DYNAMICS-PRO-RACE-1-2-ALLOY-WHEELS-8JX17_W0QQitemZ300328710620QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Rims_Car_Wheels_ET?hash=item45ecfc71dc&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A30

I didn't realise he had an ebay shop until last night :ashamed: :rolleye:

It is beginning to sound a bit like two group buys....

one for the alloys at BBT

and

one for the Toyo R888's from camskill.

I also enquired about the price of the 225/40/18 R888's and these are £155.45 each including delivery (£157.50 if you only want one delivered)

 8)

Golf R gone.

I've had a 17" on mine, and they're fine, you can get one over an R32 disc & caliper too - so I think it's "generally" fine, so long as you're not into 6-pots & 360mm disc territory.

Hurdy, what are you planning to do with your 18"s??

^^ Hey!! That was my plan

17" or 18" makes no odds to me really if there's a decent second hand set up for grabs, anyone?

Hurdy, what are you planning to do with your 18"s??

The 18"s will stay on the car for a while as road wheels (as the 19" Black CH's have been sold to Golfster S) now as I prefer them to larger wheels. Nice and light for every day use and then stick the 17" TDPR's & R888's on for the Pod, any track meets and fair weather weekends 8)

So sorry guys, no cheap 2nd hand alloys..................yet

There's tons of room over the discs and calipers and I've already decided on Gloss black.

Just got back from the shop and already bought mine :ashamed:

£1,100 for the wheels, tyres, balancing, fitment, tuner bolts and locking bolts.

I personally didn't mind paying a little extra for the tyres, as it is a 1 stop shop for me :happy2:

I'm still happy to sort a group buy session for alloys/ alloys & tyres if you want though :happy2:

He didn't have the alloys in stock and neither do Rimstock, but they will still only take around 3 weeks to make & deliver :jumping:

The satin black 8 x 17's are in stock, but I stuck to my guns for the sake of the smaller weight

I can't see these tyres lasting too long if I use them on the road though

Golf R gone.
