« on: January 10, 2013, 12:05:35 am »
As above... do i need a specific drill bit, or will a HSS bit be ok?

Any tips?

Rich

The dewalt extreme hss drill bits are awesome. Stead clear of any cheaper brands. Even Bosch drill bits are wank.

You honestly wouldn't believe the difference between a bosh drill bit and a dewalt hss extreme.

Tbh you could drill Ali with a potato, it's very soft and never puts up much resistance to my old knackered drill bits on a daily basis

I presume any decent HSS drill will get through aluminium as its softer than steel.

As said Rich, and drill bit will do. HSS or even a cheapo Jobber drill bit, you dont even need to worrey about what speed you drill at with Ali  :happy2:

just watch out is doesn't grab as ally is so soft, don't go mad and be tempted to push too hard, put it in a vice/workmate.
