Just hit the 70k mark in my 07 Eddie, still feels incredible with no squeaks, rattles or any other sign of old age
Whats everyone's opinions on average annual miles these days 10k, 12k less or more?
Like Red Robin's comment, I'm apprehensive of creeping closer to 100k but I'm sure providing she performs like she does now I won't have any issues once I hit it and still enjoy how marvellous the Mk5 Golf really is
....I think that there is a psychological element of that 'The Big 100,000' threshold that instills apprehension. It's rather like when you reach 30, or 40, or 50, or 60 years old - You kind of fear it but when you get there you think "Oh well, it ain't so bad" and you realise that there's nothing you can do about it anyway.
It's not helped by some brands of cars absolutely not making it well to 100k and is also fuelled by car salesmen who want to sell you another car. Whether it's right or wrong, your car with a high mileage will be worth less if selling it. It's just market forces.
However, through age, car components will wear and need attention but that's where regular care and maintenance comes in.
As for squeaks and rattles I've had plenty since I had KW-V3 coilovers put on many thousands of miles ago but more recently since adding the UNIbraces and changing to SuperPro polyurethane suspension bushes throughout, those squeaks and rattles seem to have strangely disappeared..... At least for now!
Anyway, once your mind gets in the zone and is focussed on driving enthusiastically, your brain dials out such noises.
