no launch control with remap?

dont really use it much but thought i would see what it was like with the new remap.

so put the car into sport - turned traction control off, left foot on the brake, then as soon as i start to apply revs the car wants to lurch forward and fight the brake,

never did this before the car was remaped, just wondering if its because the car has more power now? or if its a change to the ECU that has got rid of this function

not hugely fussed as i dont see it brings a big bonus over just booting it with the traction control on since i have dsg...

You've done it wrong.

N or P. Traction off, select S or M. I can't imagine they've somehow disabled it with the remap.

hmmm thats strange - i never put it into P before switching the traction control before the remap - just would stop at the lights - bang the car into sport then switch the traction control off.

maybe you have to switch the ESP off first?

A remap is only applied to the ECU.

Launch Control is a feature in the DSG's Mechatronics Module which is quite separate from the ECU.

Yes, you must switch off ESP first.

Well there you go I had no idea i had launch control!! Does it damage the clutch with repeated "launches" ??

Its actually there to protect the clutch, but the car is not really designed for fast starts. So its really like most things abuse it and it will age a few bits, Hurdy uses his launch control just getting his car out of the garage and his running fine after a DSG oil change.  :happy2:

It is in the manual how to do it. No mention about damage.

Only had the car since November so absolutely no requirement to read the manual for another 4 months or so!!!  :grin:

....Well I'm a DSG Boy and borrowed the Handbook/Manual before I took delivery of my GTI. I recommend always reading manuals asap.
