Poor Car
« on: November 25, 2008, 09:05:17 pm »

Had a lovely experience today, a massive transit van hurtling towards little old me  :scared:

Hopefully will all be sorted by the insurance company but i'm not too worried about the car, it's my neck which i'm worried about more

Ouch! Firstly, I hope you're ok.

Is your GTI bumper conversion all declared to your insurance company? I don't want to alarm you, but if it's anything out of spec they (the van's insurer) will declare yours void and refuse to pay.

Might be worth taking some cash, which IMO is often the best case for sub £1k claims - by the time hire cars, bodyshop's quadrulple rates and everyone else having a cut has been added up, it costs an arm and a leg... it doesn't come out of some magical pot of money, it gets lumped onto everyone else's policy, including yours for next year.

You also have to consider yours will possibly be listed on HPI and come resale it'll affect its residual value, so you could come out worse off in the long run by claiming.

Mike.
Sideways yo!

Hope you get it all sorted out mate. Neck should be fine, just sore for a little while.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Mike.

I'm not allowed to take cash as It's my companies insurance and not my own otherwise I would have had it repaired myself, would have been a lot less hassle. I don't think this will be HPI recorded as it's not really an uneconomical repair. I'm not too concerned about the car anyway, more-so about my health but I'm sure I'll be ok in a couple of weeks

I might just take you up on that offer Greenouse  :happy2:

Sheesh, I wouldn't even bother wasting breath thinking about trying to sort that out then - bang in the claim and concentrate on getting better!
