so to switch the map you need to drive a long WOT pull, so you can tap the brake for it to change whilst looking at the flashing lights on the dash to see what map you have chosen.  Is it just me who thinks thats abit dangerous?

I guessing that for safety sake that it can also be done at a standstill!

We do a similar thing with BMW MSD ecu's with the steering wheel buttons. Can switch from stock and stage 1/2/3 with the volume button on the wheel and rev counter shows which map you are on, 3k rpm = stage 3 0rpm = stock etc... Double press the volume down to go back to normal operation.

Maybe an external switch wired into brake light switch circuit could work? Plenty of blank switch positions available to utilise on the mk5 with an OE switch.

Easy answer to that is dont have it dude if you dont feel safe.

There is about 12mm travel on the brake to trigger the the switch, There are many options methods to switch the maps but all the customers already running it opted for the brake and throttle method as it works best.  You cannot really comment until you have drove the car and tried switching it can you?

I switch mine via the cruise stalk.  I just think that its a bit dodgy, especialy when you consider that it might be a K04 S2+ with 350Hp+ at WOT were talking about

So at what speed would you estimate the driver would be going when this switch occurs?  What would you consider a long WOT pull, ie what gear and from what speed?

lol I see where your coming from.

To change you can be at any speed, 3rd gear 30mph press throttle to the floor for spit second kiss the brake switch blink of an eye and map changed.  I dont think anyone will be daft to try it whilst racing along at speed.   Its an option so the driver dont have to pull over and switch engine off each time they want to change power outputs.

5th gear 30mph you can go to WOT without car picking up any speed then kiss brake.

Any ecu switch input will work Dave, traction, aircon, blanks any thing which is _W in the software.    Even the gear_w can be used to allow the maps to change on there own, this option can also have its own on off switch option.

We use the switch option linked to the brake switch on one car as the guy could not get his head around tapping the brake with his left foot

Nick, are you doing this for Bill??

Yes, He was the guy who pointed out the was torque issues with the me7.5 ecu and gave me the task to try and resolve it. I spent a day down there live mapping on his dyno, but then took me another 2 months to find a fix from testing with customers cars.  Bill is the only other tuner I have given the me7.5 TiV maps to.  He not doing the TFSI TiV yet but as soon as he starts custom mapping them I will give him the codes.   Bill is a tuner I rate high.

Nick have you got any experience with the mk6 TSI motor yet?
The next car will be a TSI most likely and they seem to be getting good numbers especially with Revo stg 2.

Also have you seen worthwhile power from WMI on a k03 gti Tfsi?
