Yeh it was all official but Welcome Break do have a wierd mangement strucutre. All cleared with HQ who deal with the car parks but the services is a seperate part of the business apparently. Too complex for me.
Basically....the word is IGNORE IT. Parking Eye are the people that deal with the parking there and if you google then, you will find loads of these 'fake' parking tickets dished out. Smooth grill is clearly the way forward! Ironic really as ANPR was originally meant for the police etc to prevent/detect crime!!
This is something I will raise again with my contact....we did discuss prior to the day but nothing was sorted out. Hopefully by next time we'll all be good!
As said, IGNORE any letters from them. Some new legislation did come into effect recently whereby companies can ask the registered keeper who was driving, BUT, if the registered keeper unfortunately didn't have the vehicle at the time, alas you can't supply the name. There is no penalty for failing to supply the name. They are not the council/police and should be treated as such.
Out of interest, did you buy anything at the services?? Again, the new law has created 2 appeal bodies which to be fair do sometimes work. Parking Eye also have to pay for each appeal. So if you wanted to produce evidence saying you bought stuff and had a big business meeting crack on. Otherwise leave.
Hopefully that should put your mind at rest. I'm not here to advocate breaking the rules but A) it's a motorway services. People NEED to sometimes stop over 2 hours and B) their demands are crazy.
Any problems PM me.
It will be sorted for next time. I can only apologise for the hassle guys, I did try, but couldn't get anything sorted :(
I haven't as yet got anything, but am awaiting to file mine under 'B' for bin. In fact, keep any paperwork just for your reference.
