Personally I think you should leave well alone...

I'm sure I've read about someone putting them in the oven to melt the adhesive that holds the headlight lens on.

Probably to do the Joey mod where you spray the chrome bits matt black.

I have read that too but it's to soften the plastic of the headlight surround not the silicon/glue

Apparently they used a silicon/glue that's not heat sensitive in the xenon version of the headlight.

I just want to find the best way of other people's experiences if they have taken them apart.

Hmm. Not quite but I do like the look. But I prefer the chrome look. Especially seeing as I have the LEDs at the rear. Kind of ties into each other.

There is a guide I have linked to on here. Think its listed in the how to thread.
Theres one way for non xenon and another for xenon that involves cutting the light open with a dremel.
Called the joey mod. Lol.

yes, i have seen these on my search but couldnt find the watercooled one anywhere as i couldnt remember the name of the site.

looks like im going to have to dremel them. a bit scary. the pics could be a bit clearer of where to do it tho, as in a line to go round

pity there are no more pics of this step or even half way through!

many thanks Jas!

going to attempt it once its a bit warmer and i can take the front bumper off to get to the lights without freezing my balls off!

....So you want to modify your Xenons by spraying the insides black - Wouldn't this effect the very valuable illumination advantages which having Xenons give you? What am I missing here?

It's a projector so wouldn't affect light output. It doesn't bounce off the silver light reflective parts to produce the beam. Obviously the full beam would be left silver but even the outside of the reflector can be painted without impeding light output.

Jas - ill let you know how I get on. Waiting for drier weather st the mo before removing headlights. Not using my car at the mo anyway in the snow. If I'm successful and you want help I'd be more than happy to give you a hand!
