New GTI owner in Ireland

Hi,

New GTI owner here and forum noobie although I have been snooping around reading posts on the build up to buying my car which I found very useful. I’m a London boy living in the Republic of Ireland. On my search for a new car I considered a number of cars and for one reason or the other didn’t suit my needs/budget whereas this ticks all my boxes, performance, practicality, looks etc.

I’ve had it 2 weeks so far and loving it. Quite often the Irish spec cars are different spec from those in the UK so not entirely sure what the options were but it comes with 18” Monzas and leather interior.

Ideally  given the time and available finances there are a few mods that I would like to do which include:

Retro fit cruise control and xenon’s.
Color codding of the rear bumper and side skirts.
Change the alloys
Audio – like the idea of some kind of tablet integration but needs more research.
Stage 1

Other than the above I think everything else is pretty much spot on and shouldnt be fettled too much.  Other than the bonnet recess for the badge - really bugs me that they did that.

I’ve seen there a few Irish lads on here.  Can any of you recommend any bodyshops, tuning specialists, good places for servicing etc preferably in the South but if a place is recommend highly enough or has a good reputation wouldn’t mind making the journey to the north.  Have a few friends that side and any excuse for a spin suits me.

Well I’ve rambled on enough now, not the greatest picture but the only one I have at the moment till the weather gets a bit nicer.

Welcome

I had a map done by Joe Power at tdr performance...not bad, but I have had a few limps thrown due to overboosts, think it might need a tweak. Bodyshops, dunno but I need one! Karmann VW are good for a main dealer I find...I'm in Castleknock so handy for me too.

My car is a UK model. If you have dual zone ac it's a UK spec.

I'm originally from NI and my Dad was from North London so maybe we're related? And seeing as we're related I'll have your 18's for fifty quid. Cheers

300 Squid. The Mk5 remaps well, Stage 1 pulls well.

You can take mine for a spin if you want to try it.

I’m South Dublin.  It does have the dual AC but the clocks are in Kilometers rather than miles.

Ha  - I was a North London boy as well so there is a possibility we are related.  Fifty quid!! Everyone loves a chancer
