Its not about mines faster than yours or anything like that ....more to see the varying speeds we all seem to be getting in different areas of the country, someone living in the middle of nowhere running on 50 year old twisted copper wire wont get the same speed as a university student living in the middle of London.

I can remember my first dial up connection, An eye watering 42kbs from my 56k modem, I point this out to my 18 yo son when the speed drops off now and then. Don't know ya born

....It's not getting onto the forum which is ever slow - It's then SOMETIMES loading threads or navigating anywhere on the site. It's doubtless down to this site's server problems/limitations.

It's rubbish where I am.  Sometimes the download speed is less than 1 Mbp/s.  Ping and upload are always around the same figure but download varies quite a bit.  I'm in the process of switching from Talk Talk to BT so hope BT is better (my neighbours have better results on the speedtest and they are with BT).  I can't watch any video online without it constantly buffering and it's doing my nut in.  I used to be with Pipex and never had any trouble before they merged with Talk Talk.

I also get rubbish mobile phone signal.  The joys of living out in the sticks a bit

Edit: Just looked through this thread again and it appears I have the slowest connection

....I used to be with Pipex before Talk Talk too. In fact "pipex" is still part of my email address. But I get a faster connection now than when it was Pipex.

Interesting that your speed test result shows your ISP as Talk Talk but mine says Tiscali.  I still have a Pipex e-mail address too but don't use it as it's too long!
