I prefer midline
« on: January 17, 2013, 10:53:47 pm »
Drove my Mums Mk5 fsi which has highline, during the day. Drove home in my gti which has midline.

Have to say I think the midline looks better. It seems a lot more focused in the context of the entire instrument display...it looks 'sportier' which suits the car.

.
That's a different perspective. I must admit that because I chose Midline when I ordered my GTI and then regretted it, I kept telling myself that I preferred the Midline display, especially for the DSG gears.

However, I think you easily adapt to and get used to whichever you have.

....As an aftermarket mod I think it's both very tedious to get done and very expensive for what you get in return. I don't see any point unless you also buy a Polar unit. There are soooo many other mods which I think are far better but each to their own.

But if ordering again I would choose Highline.

I think the polar functionality is what makes me want the high line, not too fussed otherwise.  But then the polar seems to have its issues.

.........got the same in my ED30. I don't mind it & would not go to all the troble of retro fitting highline. My satnav is aftermarket & works fine with plenty of info on the screen, but if i did order from new would go for it. Should have been standard from new tho along with a m.f.s.w. :fighting: tight bas***ds.

It can be expensive, but if you keep a look out for the clusters you can find them cheap enough
It is easy to change them on an early car

- Clusters = £ ?
- Install = £ ?
- Polar = £ ?
- Install = £ ?

It all adds up to several hundred pounds, I think.
