Drop in power
« on: November 09, 2012, 09:36:14 pm »
Hello everyone, wondered if any one else has experienced what I am at the moment with the car. Its only recently Ive started to notice it, but seems like im getting quite a big drop in power for almost 1 second after ive changed up a gear whilst on full throttle. Im not sure if it could be to do with the traction control kicking in slightly but would be suprised as its happening in all gears. Im pretty sure its not turbo related as Ive only just recently had a new turbo installed by JKM. Starting to wonder if it could be related to the inlet manifold flaps getting stuck or something.

It just feels really wierd, boosting well then change up a gear at around 5k rpm and feels like there is no boost at all for nearly a second, it doesn't sound long but it is definately noticeable.

Sorry if my desctiption of the problem isn't great, but any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi, still waiting to hear from people who might have experienced this also. The problem seems to be happening more frequently now.

Could it be clutch slip?

This is what mine has done on a few occasions (usually in cold/damp). Slips between 3-4000rpm in 4th & 5th. The symptoms sound similar, it feels flat for a couple of seconds then off like a rocket again.

If it is you will see the rev counter jump from 3000 to 4000rpm pretty instantly with no pull, then settle back to 3000rpm. It will then pull again.

Sorry if I am completely off the mark. Just a thought. I thought my car was poorly when it first happened.

Hello Mate,

Did you get this sorted. I had the inlet manifold replaced as the flaps were getting stuck and not opening up fully.

Feels much better with the new manifold.
