Recommended Restaurants Covent Garden
« on: January 21, 2013, 08:09:54 pm »
As above, going to London for a long weekend and was just wondering if anyone can recommend a good restaurant in or around the Covent garden area?

Just me and the wife would ideally like small and intimate not to fussed as regards cuisine and price, oh and plan on evening meal, saturday night.

Plenty of choice but I recommend heading down to the Strand and going to the Savoy Grill just go easy on the wine list for a special occasion

Souk Medina is a nice Moroccan restaurant in Covent Garden. I went there over Christmas and the food was nice :happy2:  Its slightly pricey but not too bad for central London.

I asked a similar question this time last year
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,41692.0.html

and can can recommend the following having eaten in both,

If you want the best steak in town without paying the earth then jump in a cab to Battersea and head to a place called Santa Maria Del Sur  (GTIjames)

There are 2 'Cote' restaurants in Covent Garden - French(ish) - like an up to date Cafe Rouge but with really good prices and Lunch specials. (galaxie500)

Gone - Candy White MK5 Golf GTI (you never really forget your first true love...!)
MK7 Candy White GTI pp - you can never have enough eye candy

+1

Rules is absolutely sensational - great place.
If your looking for something that little bit extra special this place is the place to go.

It isnt cheap but definitely worth it in my opinion.

For a dirty lunch snack you MUST MUST MUST visit Meat Market in Covent Garden, so dirty good!  http://www.themeatmarket.co.uk/

For Chinese head to China town and try the Feng Shui Inn http://www.fengshuiinn.co.uk/ I recommend the 7 Treasures Hot Pot

For the best steak http://thehawksmoor.com/locations/seven-dials ( Their Porter House is out of this world but be prepared to pay £150 for a meal for 2 with wine )

For a Dirty Cheap evening meal with some real atmosphere www.meatliquor.com/ . The deep fried pickles are a must and you need to try a glass of Grog!

For amazing burgers and lobster http://www.burgerandlobster.com/ Soho will be your closest.

Plus another +1 for Hi Sushi in Soho, they do an all you can eat option as well.. God I love that place!

These are my usual haunts :)

Yeah myself and a group of girls went there late last year.
Myself and a girl called Holly opted for the all you can eat, saw it as more of a challenge than an option and REALLY did well... *pop*

Hakkasan just off Tottenham court road,  one of the best Chinese restaurants in London, they also serve some outstanding dim sum as well.
