Anti-roll bar size advice

For my next upgrade I'm looking to get a set of front and rear ARB's and looking to get H & R, but I'm not sure on what thickness to get front and rear. I'd like the car to be as neutral as possible and get rid of any understeer without going the other way into oversteer either. I already have H & R sport springs and a WALK fitted on my Mk5 if that makes any difference. I'm not intending to do any track days just yet so will just be for enjoyment on A and B roads to inspire more confidence in the handling to reduce the body roll.

I have the H&R 26/22mm (f/r) set on mine, noticeable upgrade from stock and probably my favourite mod after the remap  :happy2:

Absolutely Andy, can do the rear and do track days, the rear bar upgrade only is a great mod and makes a big difference imo  :happy2:

I have a Rear Autotech ARB to go on but was going to get the front one as well and do both at the same time. Would it not be better to balance the car up (as it were)?
Just read some where the front is ok and change the rear to stop it steping out on corners,

I've read similar things but would the balance of the overall car not be compromised by having just one upgraded and not both? I genuinely have no idea!  :confused:

Upgrading the rear only helps increase the turn in and depending on bar size and setting will make the car feel a good bit more agile at the rear, loads of people myself included have upgraded the rear only, great mod and an easy DIY job  :smiley:

I have bought an adjustable Autotech Rear ARB and was going to get the front one and fit together, will just do the one I have now. Thanks for the info.  :happy2:

Obviously stiffer and will allow less roll, but at the expense of a little more loss of ride comfort and a more focused setup, I did consider the 28/24 but had heard reports of the front bar nudging the setup towards under steer at the limit, I can't confirm that personally but very happy with how mine feels with the 26/22 setup  :smiley:

I read on another thread that ARB's can decrease the grip compared to stock in the wet, did you feel that with your 24/22 set up?

It is true that big, stiff bars can make the car more lively especially in the wet and on a bumpy road for instance, but in 60k miles and 3years into fitment of mine and many wet track days etc, I can honestly say its never been an issue for me, although that concern did play a part in me not going for the 28/24 setup  :smiley:
