Rns510 problem???
« on: December 27, 2012, 06:18:51 pm »
Hi guys can any one help, had the rns510 fitted version C,upgraded the campus as well fitting a mid kit .
The problem is I am not able to change tracks from the steering wheel neither from cd or iPod, was able to before with the basic rnd300?
Could this be a coding issue, or am I missing something.
Thanks in advance

All sorted now, a quick look at vag com suggests when coding the C or D units a extra two
00 need to be added to the 18 didget code, hope this makes sense.

I'm having the same issue.

I installed an RNS 510 into my e30 a couple of months ago and only the volume and mute steering wheel buttons were working, where with the standard cd player they were all working. The car is in the dealers at the moment for a service and I've asked them to change the coding to enable the RNS to be controlled through the steering wheel buttons and also for it to be linked to the MFW. The dealer has just told me that this cannot be done and that the technology isn't available to do it?

Surely they just don't know what they are doing?!

can anyone shed any light on this - the car is a 57 plate.

Again this can be done, I am assuming you have full mfd, and have changed the steering wheel controller. As stated in my previous post, I think the information is also available on Rosstech that the addition of two further didget is required if you have no luck send me pm mate and I will put you on to a chap who sorted mine...

this can be done for certain, have you checked www.my-gti.com for retrofit coding of controllers for an RNS510???

I personally fitted a RNS510 to my Mk5 Golf, and had to code the SWCM (steering wheel control module), nav, and central controle module (19?) to get all function to work via the steering wheel.

do remember something to do with a setting on the steering wheel of 'soft steering wheel buttons' having to be disable to make this work correctly..

Regarding Steering Wheel controller, you shouldnt have to change this to make this work, unless you never had a MFSW (oem?)
