r32 steering racks quicker than gti racks
Janner_Sy:
I know the steering rack for the mk4 R32 was quicker than the mk4 GTI, is this the same for the MK5 platform, if so are they easily interchangable without modificvation. and is it worthwhile
VeeDubDan:
I may be wrong in saying this but I beleive it is the same steering rack across all models.

BeezerDiesel:
IIRC and I may well be wrong, the mk4 R32 used the same rack as the TT225 (MK1) and the Leon Cupra R (MK1).
The mk5 Golf based cars use an electrical/mechanical steering rack which can be the same accross all models but can be modified by VCDS for either sharper steering and less assistance or the opposite. VW and Audi are making good use of this themselves in some of the current generation cars that have the adjustable dampers as when you put them into Sport mode it also sharpens up the steering and throttle response.
