Gti side skirt bolts.
« on: January 26, 2013, 10:42:59 am »
Does anyone know the size of the side skirt bolts?

The bolt kit is over £20 from stealer. So thinking if I can get some bolts the same size will just use those..

Thanks

The skirt kit should include some metal square brackets that scre in to the car and them just some normal torx screws underneath and at the end so not really sure what you are referring to by bolts?

there is a retaining strip... Does that literally self tap screw into the car then mount to that?
That's what I get from this picture anyways? Then number 12's are the brackets maybe?

Cheers

Ahh yes see what you mean, from what I remember when changing mine for colour coded ones, the long strip that it clips on was just screwed to the car. Some people just stick the skirts to the car, but to be honest for £20 ish you may as well buy the kit

i can get you a pic of the sills, but the skirts are at the body shop... they aint the easiest to get off its mainly the 3m tape... I found it best to very carefully take a blade and slice the 3m stuff to ease the sides off... even then one did get a little damaged...

Yes that's fine mate a picture of the bits that are underneath the skirts while they are off is exactly what I'm after.

Just after an idea really. But anyone who has a picture of the car with the skirts off would be ace. Thanks chaps

I didn't find the tape hard to remove - you may have been unlucky. I found two people helped as one can cut the tape whilst the other pulls from one end upwards and outwards until the other end. I don't think pulling straight up would work as well - as shown in the guide  :happy2:

And here is a list of parts on a picture for anybody's future reference.
