K03 turbo....
« on: January 28, 2013, 02:36:01 pm »
Hi guys,

My turbo has blown on my 2.0fsi k03(2005) and i am struggling finding the OEM ref number. wanted a K04 kit but unfortunatley funds are not allowing due to moving house... bloody girlfriends!!  :sad1:

so my decision is to stick the standard borg warner K03 back on and then when things are a little less house focused get an S3 or edition 30 towards the end of the year.

back to my original point, which of the following is the correct turbo to purchase?
06F 145 701 C
06F 145 701 D

any help would be much appreciated.

also if anyone knows where i can get a new borg warner oem K03 for less than VWs quote of £850 (everything in), it would be much appreciated and i will perform a dance a little like this  :pomppomp:

How difficult is it to do a K03 direct swap?

Perhaps do a deal on this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/K03s-Turbo-VW-Mk5-GTI-Seat-FR-Audi-A3-Skoda-Octavia-VRS-/160961280118?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AGolf|Plat_Gen%3AMK+V&hash=item257a0a3876

@olusfen i was under the impression that a K03s was only for the 1.8t gti?

its also the case of buying off ebay and the horror stories that go with it.

i will give statller a call and see what they can sort out.

cheers guys, i will update this feed as things go.

You could also put a post in the wanted forums as someone may have done the k04 upgrade and still have their old k03 spare.

We are in development with another company at the moment to produce a 350bhp KO3 hybrid with billet compressor wheel.  It will be a direct bolt on so no extra parts needed to fit it.  But it's not going to be tested and ready until the summer.    The results we are seeing with the 1.8t version of the ko3 hybrid from the same turbo builder are 312bhp, limited by turbine housing flow.

Holy crap, that sounds frickin' awesome nick, I know this is wild speculation at this point, however what would you guesstimate the price point to be for this?

That sounds amazing , am i right in saying uprated cooling, fuel pump, injectors, exhaust would all be needed to run those sort of figures? definitely new tyres

any ideas of cost yet?

^^^ I think so mate.
I'd be interested if it (only) made 300bhp with less additional requirements... some injectors and perhaps TBE as the K03 is only single scroll.

For the full 350 I reckon everything you stated would be required... at which point, why this over K04?
Sounds very interesting though. :happy2:
