Mk2 Audi TT 3.2
« on: January 28, 2013, 03:54:30 pm »
Friend of mine is looking at getting an audi TT, it's between the 2.0T and the 3.2 V6, was wondering if anyone had any experience of this engine In the TT? As its lower and I think wider does it handle better than an R32? Obviously it's not as tuneable as the turbo engine but that's not an issue. And is the TTS engine the same as an S3/ed30 engine?

It's a K03, so with a decent map will make the V6 power with less weight.  Really depends if he does a lot of mileage and whether the higher tax group / worse fuel conumsption / slightly more expensive maintenance is an issue for him.
The TTS is a whole different price range, using the K04 turbo so 300+ from a map.

Is the 3.0 supercharged lump in the audi S4 the same lump with some tweeks as the 3.2 R32 engine?? Ive wondered this as I wouldn't have thought audi would make a brand new engine just for the S4?

Its thirsty and slow, or thirsty and a good cruiser/tourer, depending on what you want from your car.  :signLOL:

It will handle better than a r32. Selling the 3.2 could be tricky though. Generally TT owners are either posers who want the "looks" and dont care about speed, or are performance nuts and go for the TTS and TTRS. The 3.2v6 is kinda stuck inbetween as the pink elephant as theres no real performance gain over the 2 liter turbo units whilst costing alot more to run.

the noise is pretty tastey though, im more of a performance nut which is why i went for a gti but he's not so fussed and the 3.2 does have a lovely note! i didnt know the A5's now had it too, id prefer that over the Naturally aspirated V8 lump

As much as I hate the idea, perhaps he would appreciate a TDI TT?

To be fair guys, 0-60mph in under 6 sec and a top speed of 155mph, I wouldn't say that was slow!
