Just dropped Pov a line. I need to know the date. I saw this earlier and thought it was for those who couldn't get a place on the 30-130 day!

I don't understand.... Looking at the YouTube vid posted earlier, all I see is 9 minutes of cars very randomly leaving a rather undefined 'start' point. No evidence of timing equipment etc - Is this event just a meet for nice cars to demonstrate their exhaust sounds?

Please educate me   :popcornsoda:

The cars use Racelogic Performance Vboxes and all done through GPS. The 30-130 day at RAF Marham uses the same technology.

Hi Robin

The "start" is really just the cars being allowed to leave ie the main straight is free from the previous run.  It's not a drag race (although pretty often similar cars get side by side and have a go just for sh*ts and giggles).  The straight you can see from the start area is pretty short, followed by a very wide sweeper round on to the main runway.  About 1.8 miles down that runway there is a guy with two sets of timing beams, one for left, one for right lane.  You can briefly see your speed as you whiz through the beams plus the guy there also keeps a record of who hits what speed.  You then have to hit your brakes pretty f*cking hard to stop before the end of the runway.

:)

any excuse for a pic:

Nope, well, not when I did it anyway.  Just timing beams set up on the main straight, cars have numbers daubed on them so the marshal guy knows which car hit which speed..

They may well use both now then. Unless Steve Jr was using his own Vbox on the last vmax event.

Pity you can't make it John, where did you get the exact dates from?  I may have to take holiday if it clashes with my shift patterns  :sad1:
