GIAC H/O fuel rail pressure should be 130-140bar, right?
« on: January 30, 2013, 05:43:17 am »
The giac remap I have is "2007 Golf ® 2.0T High Pressure K04 S3 Injectors HPFP FMIC TBE 130-140BAR RS4 FPR". I have everything for it and more, but I data logged my rail pressure today and got this from 5200 rpm to near redline;

rpm - rail pres.
5200 - 110.44
5440 - 111.15
5680 - 113.84
5920 - 112.35
6120 - 114.45
6320 - 113.7
6520 - 120.17
6720 - 127.7
6840 - 127.2
 at the same time, boost request/specified was lower than usual;

Spec. - Act.
2230    - 2330
2200 - 2310
2150 - 2250
2100   - 2200
2080   - 2160
2070   - 2160
2060   - 2160
2060   - 2140
2060   - 2130

Wondering what my rail pressure graph should look similar to now...help please...

What fuel?
What was the ambient temp?
Anything else out of the ordinary on the run/day?

What was the requested fuel pressure?

Your boost numbers exceed some requests.

Pepsi or coke? :grin:

Jesting aside, will an RS4 fuel pressure return valve help your application?

92 octane along with a 91-93 remap.
Temp = 45 F
The motor lugged down a bit at the start of the pull. Didn't get to do logs today for groups 103, 115, and 230 (if correct?). But, the boost was right on with yesterdays boost. I have been messing around near the hpfp and my boost gage line is near it...I'll look at it too.

I didn't log the correct boost for both low and high rail pressure yet. I hoped to do that today, but busy ;[

I adjusted my boost after the K04 install due to mis-calibration causing actual boost to be 3psi below specified back then. Up until now my actual boost has been 1.5psi above specified, and I have been very close to tuning it down a bit more for less lag and added low-end torque. Right now, or before this situation, my actual boost doesn't catch up to specified until around 4800rpm. Before, when boost was 3psi below specified, actual boost caught up to specified at 3000rpm with an AWE&GIAC K04 remap giving 364 lb*ft torque. I ran 12.8 sec. 1/4 et's with the old tune. Now, with the high pressure - high output K04 file, I run 13.0. I thought there would be more power with the latter remap, and it may, but needing to sort out its issues. Then....maybe, right?

I meant to ask "does anybody have a similar remap and then a graph of their low vs high rail pressure?"

Today I picked up a DB revision in-tank lpfp and ordered a 145bar fprv(fuel pressure relief valve). Hoping to see the 140bar remap actually reach that ;]

Well, I did some data logs today and I now need to figure out why my specified rail pressure never requests over 125bar when it's a 130 to 140bar remap...? My actual rail pressure is having no trouble staying a bit ahead of specified, so I think that there is nothing foul with the pumps(lpfp or hpfp), but still not eliminating the lpfp possibilities as I still haven't found the proper vcds adv. meas. block for it. My Lambda is fine and running rich b/c after about 4k rpm the specified drops and the results<85%.(optimal power @ 85-95)
Also, before the runs, I turned back the boost so actual will be more in line with specified rather than leaving it behind. And, I replaced the hpfp high-pressure brass outlet fitting.

I'm assuming, at this time, something is causing some cut-back of sorts. I'm just unaware of what it is so far.
I still need to check the lpfp pressure to the hpfp, and I will once I find the proper vcds - amb#.

Should really go straight for a better intank pump.  DB will still drop below 4 bar as its just not up to the job.  Drop in pump isnt cheap though at 275 quid.
