Vrs estates - any good ?

I'm considering all sorts of weird and wonderful cars at moment. Would a VRS Octavia estate work out as a GTI with a massive boot? Anyone got one? Is the ride smoother than the GTI ?

Yes it would.  Its an awesome compromise.

Same chassis, engine gearbox, brakes, ECU etc as the GTI.  Interior quality is as good as the GTI( I actually preferred it to the GTI personally :evilgrin:), it has masses of boot space(my hatch managed 3 suit cases and 2 prams without even removing the parcel shelf!!)
 
I wouldnt say the ride is smoother than a GTI, but its certainly not worse.  Plus if you go aftermarket then it wont mater anyway.

Any suspension tweaks for the GTI are applicable for the vRS.

The new Yeti looks much nicer than the current model.  Id have that one. 

Something that made me laugh, a guy on briskoda with a stage 1 diesel Yeti 4x4 spanked a Octavia vRS with k04 conversion, coilovers, brakes etc around bedford on the how fast day  :grin:  apparently it wasnt the driest of days, but thats still funny :grin:

You've no idea how hard I tried trying to get Liz to have Yeti. I think they're brilliant cars.

EVO had one as a long termer and rocked up to a Ring trackday with it on a set of semislicks - and drove round a lot of stuff  :grin:

EVO brought it along to one of their Silverstone track days too with a spare set of wheels and R888s. Went very well.
