Ok guys, I've had a look via search and can bring up some mixed opinions of drilled and grooved discs.

I'd really like some, admittedly mainly for aesthetic reasons BUT not to the detriment of excessive noise / proneness to cracking / less stopping power than standard.

I'd particularly like to know your thoughts on this combo:

Full set discs and Pads >

Just front discs

Be great if someone has tried these with some feedback or perhaps there are some better combos... good or bad let's hear it :)

My not-exhaustive research so far suggests that MTec drill and groove whatever discs they happen to get hold of, so whilst they do have some good reviews, I think it's pot luck what discs you get.

Thanks John, I am a bit weary of the drilled aspect... by all accounts a grooved disc is the one to go for.  But which 312 combi?  Don't want a BBK, just too much cash atm.

I'm thinking about using those Mtec front discs with my NQSBBK once I get it in a week or two, so would also be interested in opinions.

I'm looking at some of the EBC High Carbon discs at the moment - there is a plain and a grooved version in mk5 fitment. I did want to try some ATE Powerdiscs, but have no idea where to get these from in the UK. I'm looking for a set of pads that have R90 approval (which Bluestuff, Pagid Blue, DS2500s don't have IIRC) but the choice seems somewhat limited.

These come ECE R90 approved for Ate FN3 calipers and are the best road legal pads:

- Ferodo DS Performance
- Cosworth StreetMaster
- EBC YellowStuff

I grabbed some of the mtec discs and mintex red box pads, probably not a good idea, but we'll see.
I wanted some of the Tarox G88 discs but at more than three times the price, I'll give these a shot first.

I have had the mtec dimpled and grooved discs on the front of my car for around 6 months now.

I also had the mintex pads with them, haven't noticed any loss in performance compared to the OEM discs and pads that were on before. Also have them on the rear now too.

I will probably go for some better pads when they need changing though.
