Yikes, I like them, but don't think they are worth a grand... don't think they were that new in the options list... I know the leather ones we're silly money, but £1k plus standards. 
....Even the Interlagos cloth Recaro's were about £2,000 as a VW factory option (which stopped in 2007). I didn't order them on mine in 2005 but bought some later for £1,100 without any swoppsie.
No regrets - Quite the contrary as they are very comfy (passenger can sleep more easily) and very supportive when making progress.


Personally I wouldn't buy any car with leather seats - Too slippy and can be awful in hot summers.
If you get some you'll have to dial out the airbag warning as they don't have any.
