Build number plaque.
« on: February 01, 2013, 01:19:18 pm »
Received my build number plaque for my eddy off VW today. Just want to know is there an official place in which this should be displayed in the car? Or is it just wherever the individual fancies? Seen a lot on the inside of the drivers door and wondered if that was the official location for them?

If you received an official plaque, you should have received instructions with it. Inside of driver's door is the "official" location but you can stick them anywhere you want to. The ashtray lid is a popular alternative. Have a look at plaque threads.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

.
Volkswagen suggest you put it inside the drivers door but then the only time that you or anyone else sees it (for a very short time) is when opening the door.

You are free to put it wherever you want - it's your car.

If you've got it, be proud and flaunt it!

Mine's on the door in the suggested place, but I think I might move it so it's visible as long as it doesn't leave too much of a sticky mess on my door.

....You should be able to easily remove any sticky adhesive residue with an alcohol based cleaner. Or even with a nylon sponge and washing up liquid with a bit of elbow grease.  :happy2:

^^^^ not from the dealer no.

You need to contact VW Customer Services directly on 0800 0833914.

Give them all your details (telling them your after your "individually numbered Golf GTI Edition 30 plaque") and if one has not been previously sent out to a former owner one will be sent to you for free. If one has been sent out before then you will not get one.

IIRC you will need to send them (via email) a copy of your Reg Document showing its your car and they go from there.

I delt with a chap called Matthew Young but lots of peeps have delt with a lady, Jenny.

Hope that helps. Any probs, PM me and I'll give you the direct phone number for the chap I spoke to.

Mine...
