iPod connector in armrest - questions.
« on: February 01, 2013, 06:31:43 pm »
When I bought the car I didn't have an ioPod so didn't spec it.  But I do now and have a few questions.

1). Can it be retro-fitted easily?
2). How much am I looking at for parts and fitting (approx).
3). Will the armrest lid shut completely with an iPhone docked in it?
4). I assume it charges the iPod/iPhone when docked?
5). Is there full functionality from the MFSW ie. able to skip through tracks and albums?

I currently have an auxiliary lead from the back of the stereo into the glovebox but it doesn't charge the device so I'm keen to get something that does.

FOR SALE!

If you have a newer generation stereo (Rcd510/310 rns510) you can add a MDI kit in the armrest if you have a slot for it there (originally for a cd changer)

Not too sure about the older stereos but their is an iPod lead and dock for them too.

With the MDI kit I can select what album etc to play from the head unit and use the MFSW to skip tracks.

My iPhone fits into the cubby hole on the MDI dock.

The MDI kits are under £100 deliverd

What do you class as newer generation? My car is a 2008 model.
