VW Eos
« on: February 01, 2013, 11:00:57 pm »
I'm not quite getting back into a GTI but I'm looking at getting the Mrs a Eos TFSI DSG, obviosuly the engine and gearbox there's plenty on here about but anyone got any experience of running one. Especially interested in the roof reliability (not had a convertible before)

Cheers

Rob

They're terrible. I had one for nearly three weeks and hated it. It basically has no rigidity at all.

And it can have a very very leaky roof!

We looked at an EOS a couple of years ago before the Tiguan, but there were some serious issues with the hood as you rightly point out... went to see a couple, both of which had damp inside - not sure whether this problem was rectified on later models, but definitely something to be cautious of; otherwise probably a very nice motor, with all the usual VW traits.

Girlfriends got one! 2.0tdi sport, really nice to drive but you have to look after the seals, lube them up regularly or they leak and squeek!

Really clever roof as well!

It just isn't a nice car to drive though - even with the roof down. I had a fully specced 2.0TDI and it was just drab. When I gave it back I got in a MK6 1.6TDI Golf Match and it felt awesome in comparison.

Thanks, I only really concerned about the reliability of the roof (i.e. leaks and creaks). I'm not buying it for its driving finesse. Going to drive one tommorrow and will be happy if it drives as good as other CCs I've driven which according to the reviews it does.

Hoping some ex or current owners etc could share experience on above . :happy2:

The boot is completely useless too.

I may have only had one on loan but I formed a pretty strong opinion on it :signLOL:

The roof... Extremely well designed, has multiple moving flaps above the rear arm rest areas so it can tuck away without compromising on rear seat space! Youtube videos of it! Wont open or close if you are too close to a wall or car as the boot tips back and the parking sensors check behind before operating!
Has leaked a few times, but now that I keep greasing the seals it is fine! Only major problem weve had was when the roof wouldnt operate, but that was because there was a plastic bottle behind the rear headrest!

If you are near the Orpington/Bromley area you are more than welcome to come take a look!

Seriously though suppose I'd better be on the look out for dried up seals and if their are then treat with some of this.
