Is it just an engine oil and filter change?

Basically, yes .... and a quick check over to make sure nothing is out of place, light work etc.

My first service took about 1/2 hour and was done while I waited.  The service man said it's the second service that takes time as they change the brake fluid.

Just been quoted £117 for that service, however they supplied the car but are 60miles from me. The local stealer wanted £140 but knocked em down to £130, told em i had a quote for £117 but they claim the parts cost more....who are they trying to kid ffs!

Im not due the service until next month, but will start looking for prices and maybe get it booked in this week some time, as Im away the last week of this month - lots of driving to be done!

depends what service plan your on, to cost.

yes, for both its just a oil and filter change, but if on longlife, then pollen filter will be changed.

if your on t&d the time will be 1.3 if your on longlife it may be upto 1.9, if its VW servicing (pre paid servicing) its 0.5

parts, inc oil for first t&d service (pd oil) come to around £30, then add labour and VAT.
parts, inc oil for first longlife service (longlife oil) come to £55, then add labour and VAT.

Hi all

Im mainly based in the Harlow / Essex area most of the time.

Just rang a local VW dealer as my car needs its first service next month - he quoted me £225 for a T&D, or £365 for a LL service!!! Thats just an engine oil and filter change!!!

Im looking for any VW approved Indy's, or other good dealers for some more prices first.

Im willing to travel a little if need be...

Any recommendations??

I just rang another dealership, and was told that I should be having my first service at 2 years / 20k miles - not so soon.
They said when the light comes on, just to pop in and they will rest it!!!

Im after a long life service, even though Im on T&D, since I want LL oils to be used.

My LOCAL VW dealer - £365 - FOR A FIRST SERVICE!!!!!!!

Another VW dealership - about 17 miles away from me - the same service for..............wait for it...................£124.14!

I'll deffo be going here. This guy seemed to know what he was talking about over the phone when it came to servicing and oils etc - stating they used Castrol oil as well. My local dealer hardly knew the difference between T&D and LL servicing! I cant believe how much they tried to rip me off for!
Had a bit of a chat with him, and he said he was getting a lot of business from around the London area - all going up to him!!
Since they are a VW dealer, all parts will be VW approved etc.
He then went on to tell me my most expensive service at year 4, will be £367 - and that INCLUDES the DSG oil change was well (which they usually do for around £130!).

Hopefully their service will be quite good, and they'll have got themselves a new customer!!
