ESP Fault help/advice please One for the Experts
« on: February 18, 2013, 03:05:38 pm »
Hi all,
Have had a problem with my mk5 golf gti 2006, it ocasssionally when setting off the esp would flick on and off a few times then it wouldnt do it again over a few months it gradually got worse, then after changing both front wheel bearing (pattern parts) it stayed the same but a week later the esp would contiuosly flicker on and off after reaching around 8mph and its not possible to drive unless turning the esp off and then drives fine,

removed and cleaned both front abs sensors and no difference, have taken it to a local audi vw specialist and they suspected the abs module on the abs pump, so they sent it to BBA reman and afer a headache to cut a story short they found the pressure switch was broken so they fixed and garage put it back on car and its still the same and now have put a 100% working module on and still the same,

When logging the abs sensors with vcds they get to a certain speed and it says something along the lines of communications lost, both me and my mechanic are now a bit stumped and it has now been off the road for a few weeks and still no closer to fixing it

So does anyone have any experience with this fault or any ideas

Also there is no fault codes

thanks craig

The steel sensor ring for the ABS corrodes away on the back wheels (hubs) to give that fault - not sold as single item, comes with the wheel bearing!

Removing the rear discs will expose the ring in question.
