Running the indicator DRL's + Xenons?
« on: July 12, 2009, 07:01:53 pm »
Guys,

I'm presuming here that with VagCom you can run the yellow indicators in a US style DRL (which look immense), can this be run with Xenon/Bi-Xenon headlights - I'm presuming there's nothing to restrict this?

If so, any piccies of said scenario? I can imagine it looking pretty excellent.

Thanks,

Pete.
Pete

If your planning of retrofitting Xenons, you cant do US DRLs.

You need the factory installed xenon loom, if retrofitted, it wont work with the kufatec looms.

Steve, yeah I've seen his car, it's the only one picture or so I've got of that kind of DRL  - Cheers.

And Jay, ok mate I'll have to forget that one then.
Are the kufatec leads not built with OEM components/material or similar then?

yes they are, built as such.

But....

they only Have 7 wires running in them.

Factory fit ones have 12 wires. These are for self leveling etc.

and somewhere in the differences of the loom lies the answer why we cant have the DRLs

Well I thought it wasn't possible to do it unless you had factory xenons. That all changed when Vw rascal turned up To my unit with his indicator drls on his halogen headlights. I put my xenons on there and the indicators still lit up!! Looks awesome!

So can this be done either with oem xenons or standard headlights?

Hmmm, might have to give this some serious thought. Can anyone think of any issues come MOT time with this though?
