Jetta's weak turbo?
« on: February 02, 2013, 04:36:45 pm »
Hi Guys,

I've heard a lot about the Jetta tdi 140s having weak turbos and most remaps pushing them until they go. How true is this, or is it just luck of the draw?

Cheers, Ben

Mines been mapped since 48k and its on 76k now not had a problem yet with the turbo, car is playing up alitttle at the moment but I think its a boost leak of some sort.

Pd140 mapping should only add 2.5-3% extra boost for 180bhp, I've seen some maps with +20%  :scared:

All depends on who is mapping it and the methods they use, but the stock pd140 turbo is a bit of a gamble, we have seen cars with 150k+ miles and a strong map on original stock turbo and some completely standard cars with 30k miles with dead turbos.

PDT any idea why mine just started feeling like it hesitates around 1800-2000 rpm then goes? Its only just started doing it, its been mapped 2 years and never done that before, its been on vagcom and that shows no faults.

Could be lots of reasons, do you have vagcom to do some logs I can look at?

I haven't personally got vagcom but I know someone who should be able to do some logs for me.

Ok, I don't know the exact block numbers to log, but find injection quantity, boost, airflow, engine load and injection timing.
