Also... getting back in mine the accelerator felt really dead, where as on the ST if you jabbed the pedal it shot off..... I must me mad for even thinking about swapping....  :popcornsoda:

Beddie... that RS must be mentally quick!  :driver:

Yeah it's quite a car tbh Rich.. It's the full fat Mountune spec so Eibach/Bilstein and Mountune branded Alcon 6 pots with the full engine spec albeit with a 3rd party 420 map, seriously nice car apart from the thirst

Was this the 2.5 ST rich or the New 2.0T ST?

2.5 Volvo 5pot. I thought the 2.0t vag engine was good but this is better.... Way better.

providing the liner dont go in the engine!
there was a lot of talk about them in the first few years especially some around the 300 bhp mark

I had a 320bhp 2007 focus st, one of the reasons I sold was in fear of the liners cracking. But she never missed a beat.
Very fast car and I do miss certain aspects of it but my dsg gti is a better car, less asbo but is a better car.

Tbh I didn't like the turbo in my ST, felt like it ran out of puff very quickly over 4-4.5k rpm whereas I feel my gti holds stronger over the rev range

I used to have an ST with a Pumabuild remap - basically a mountune map with a bit more mid range boost

You lose some of the 5pot warble when you remap them though  :sad1:

They are great cars, great seats, handle well, the sound is amazing - pops and bangs through standard exhaust

Mine was about 6mpg worse than my GTI - if that bothers you??

The ST3 is the one to go for with leather seats, heated front screen (AMAZING feature) and 6CD changer

The downside though is the weak engines which have been known to crack the cylinder liners on tuned (and even some stock) engines. Jamsport have released a block strengthening kit for about £1k which solves this.

Alternators, driveshafts & Oil breather diagphrams have been known to fail  :sad1:

You will need an uprated clutch with a remap, mine slipped straight after the map. The Focus RS one will fit the bill £700

Yeah I had to have an RS clutch fitted to mine. The clutch slip was crazy, that cost me £800. Had my oil filter housing diaphragm go as well, was an easy job to change it but it is a known fault.
Oh and I was averaging 23-24mpg and in my GTI I'm averaging about 30mpg overall
As pointed out yes the heated windscreen is such a good feature don't know why more cars don't have this.

In the winter that heated front screen is the feature I miss the most about my Focus, just so easy to remove ice / demist.
IIRC, Ford had the patent on it for a number of years, but I think that ran out and other manufacturers use it now.  My mates 2004 Land Rover has one, but I think Ford owned Land Rover at the time.

They stupidly never licensed it to others, they'd have made a fortune. Did you find once you'd noticed the elements, it was really hard not to look at them?

I hated it on an Escort I once owned and it was doubled by the fact that it only worked on the passenger side!

I love my Dubs. Even with my current car i think that i could have gotten a really nice Edition 30 instead. However, the way it drives has made me realise that i probably wont get another Dub unless VW go balls out and release something very special but at a price that competes in the market place.

In fact, of anything the fuel consumption is the worst thing about my new car - but it was the main reason i purchased it. I expected to be getting more than 40mpg average across a tank.

Yep. Currently at 40.9mpg average. I expect this will increase when my commute will just consist of motorways, but dont expect it to by much. When i look at the instant mpg readouts its anything from 55mpg down a slight hill to 36mpg on a slight incline. On Cruise at 70mph.
