Focus ST Mountune

..... Drove one of these tonight and loved it.... got itchy feet!

FST Montune vs ED30 stage 1....... nothing in it at all, which surprised me.

ST's sound great with the 5 cylinder 'Quattro-like' engine warble! Must have been very good indeed for you to even consider jumping ship?

I used to have a standard ST, had a few goes in the Mountune MR290 as well over the years. I remember it was described to me as a stage 2 conversion with TBE IIRC. Looked the nuts and the torque was very impressive.

I was never a fan of the cabin (not the best place to be) or the quality of the cabin interior trims and switches but a great all round car.

The petrol consumption was pretty bad on the ST, worse than my Stage 1 Eddy. For me and the way I drive it was maybe 5mpg less so 21-22mpg on average. Don't know if the Mountune is better or worse.

Loved my ST, but fuel consumption was an issue. But the noise was pant wettingly amazing with a decat stainless system!  :love:

Yeah.... ive got a feeling that "It seemed like a great idea at the time" applies here....   :happy2:

Its funny because we both drove each others cars, and he loved mine and I loved his... i guess the grass is greener!

His was the 260 Mountune version... so on paper not as powerful as mine.... however...

used to have a focus st with stage 2 blue fin with a sport cat and 3 inch down pipe.
i had the resonator removed before i sold it and the sound was epic!
used to be able to scare the local track suit family at the bus stop every morning with a 4k gear change and shot gun like pop!

God i miss it :(
Although i can safely say it wasnt as quick as my stage 1 blue fin ed30

Also... getting back in mine the accelerator felt really dead, where as on the ST if you jabbed the pedal it shot off..... I must me mad for even thinking about swapping....  :popcornsoda:

I met a chap a while back who had a DSG R32 and we drove each others cars. He said he liked the manual, too. For me, there was an appeal to the auto, but I felt that if I had one I'd probably just let the car change gear and wouldn't bother with the flappy paddles, thus negating the need for them altogether. Interesting to compare, though...

I know a chap with a Mountune'd ST and it is a rapid beastie. evo compared one with the RS and if anything the ST was slightly quicker.

Petey's RS is ballistic once in 3rd.

A much as I love DSG and its other versions elsewhere, I'm having a bit of an anti-auto move now. Pretty soon we won't be able to buy anything nice with a manual 'box, so I'm making the most of them while I can.

GT3 gone
Most M cars gone.
